Documentary Subject

This is Sway Velilla, he is a pastor that preaches at BCM: The Journey here at IUSB and BCM at Notre Dame. He also works at Notre Dame in the skating rink as a Zamboni driver. He is planting(starting) a church, in his apartment.

If I was to do a documentary on Sway, I would interview him about church planting and how it works. This would be very interesting because not many people have heard of church planting before. This would be a good way to encourage or empower people to go out and do things for the Lord.

1. When did you get saved/ baptized?
2. How did you get into ministry?
3. What made you want to start planting a church?
4. How is your church service currently structured?
5. How did you start the process? Do you receive any funding, donations, or help from anybody?
6. What is your attendance like?
7. How is this experience for you and your family?
8. What impact do you think your church has on the community around you?
9. Do you ever plan on doing ministry overseas?
10. How do you see your church in the future? 5 years from now? 10 years from now?

Music Video Analysis "Take Me To Your Leader"

This music video is "Take Me To Your Leader" by the Newsboys. This video is conceptual. It's a play on the phrase, as an alien would say, "take me to your leader" The concept of the video is that Christians need to go out and tell people about Jesus. So the Newsboys are supposed to be astronauts arriving on an alien planet, and they are going to tell them about their leader.

Some visual elements include: space: deep, line: horizontal and vertical, shape: square, color: cool and desaturated , tone: mid-range, light: overexposed, movement: -fast and slow, and rhyme: moderate. The video is also sometimes blurred out too. When the camera shows the band performing together, the overexposure comes down, but when they are shown individually, it tends to go back up. The exposure changes to show detail in their performance when their together, and less detail in needed for individual shots.

Some of the key moments include the scene in the very beginning when they come down from the space ship because that's when we first see the members. This is photographed vertically. Another moment is when we see the members running through a puddle of water in slow motion. This is slow motion to emphasize the importance of their exploration. Another moment is when the band is raising a flag in the distance. This moment is photographed in slow motion, high exposure, and blurred.

The camera is static for most of the video. The only time the camera moves around is when we see the band as a whole performing with instruments. This movement is created to give a move dynamic feel to their performance.

This music video interprets the song in a different way, even though it is they are both based on the phrase "take me to your leader". The song is talking about Christians going out and taking them to our leader (Jesus). While the video is about astronauts landing on a planet and claiming it, and possibly taking the "alien" women back with them to meet their leader back on Earth.

Biography

I first started working with media when I was in high school in my Interactive Media class. This class was part of a Technology concentration in my school. We worked with Adobe Flash, Fireworks, InDesign, and Illustrator. We also created a few websites with Coffee Cup, or Adobe Dreamweaver. I then knew I wanted to work with media. I do lean more towards working with just graphics rather than working with websites, audio, and video. However, I do work with them from time to time in my own projects. I have also made a logo and brochures for my club on campus called BCM: The Journey.

Some of my interests include giraffes, musicals, The Rock-afire Explosion, and Disney stuff. In my spare time I like to watch Americas Got Talent, Last Comic Standing, Under The Dome, The Big Bang Theory, Modern Family, and The Simpsons. I like to listen to mainly Christian music, musicals/ soundtracks, and rock. If I could make any kind of media without restrictions, I would make animated short films, or an awesome futuristic background with a lot of detail. My goal, when I graduate, is to create graphics for a company or clients, I really do not have anything specific in mind right now besides that. I am interested in media because it is an interesting art form that can be almost anything imagined with a click of a button.
